grew up outside of Seattle, Washington. After graduating from the University of Washington in International Studies and German Area Studies she moved to Athens, Greece where she immersed herself in the language and culture. Three years later she found herself in graduate school at the University of Michigan where she earned her Master’s degree in Education. But, after teaching high school students European, Asian and Latin American civilization courses and sixth grade geography, she found that she did not want to teach geography, she wanted to live it. In 2002 she did exactly that as a chef on a 110’ motor yacht that fished the Bahamas Billfish tournament season. She has been on several charter yachts since.
A lover of food, Cathy began her cooking career at the University of Washington as the personal chef for the former CEO of Boeing, Malcom Stamper and his family. Her penchant for self-education also led her to intern at three restaurants in London and Italy during the winter of 2003, where she gained a broader knowledge of Mediterranean food. Cathy found her calling when she began cooking on yachts. It combines her love for travel, entertaining, food, and foreign languages. She speaks German and Greek fluently and is conversant in Italian and when she isn’t cooking you will invariably find her dancing, rollerblading, swimming, reading or writing.
